Dr. Manuel “Rick” Villarreal earned his DDS in 1995 from the School of Dentistry at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, which was recently named the #1 dental school in Texas, by a U.S. News & World Report ranking. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Villarreal, a San Benito, Texas native, graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. degree in 1988.
After practicing dentistry in El Paso, Dr. Villarreal returned to his roots in the Rio Grande Valley in 2000 to be closer to his family and give back to the community he loves. He is a current board member of the South Texas Independent School District, and of the External Advisory and Development Council – College of Science – at Texas A&M University. He also currently sits on the United Way of Southern Cameron County Board of Directors.
He is a past board member of the Museum of Fine Arts in Brownsville, Texas and also the past president and former board member of the Rotary Club of Brownsville. Dr. Villarreal is also an Endowed Century Club Member - The Association of Former Students, Texas A&M University.
Professionally, he is a Scholar with The Dawson Academy, a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Rio Grande Valley Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and the Rio Grande Valley Component of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Villarreal believes in listening to patient’s concerns and keeping up with the latest advances in the ever-changing field of dentistry. He takes pride in challenging himself to provide the best dental care possible by attending continuing education courses throughout the year that exceeds what is required by the state. These courses allow him to hone his skills in a variety of procedures so he can truly provide comprehensive care to his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Villarreal enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending community events, fishing, hunting, and attending sporting events.
